What to wear with a Pencil Skirt

For a good, fitted professional look nothing can beat a pencil skirt. I know girls who think of Pencil skirts as the by word for all skirts – all the other skirts are frumpy for them.

Why is Pencil skirt so popular?

A Pencil skirt gives ‘a figure’ to even the most shapeless person around. For the curvy as well as the skinny, Pencil skirt with its figure hugging style is the ultimate capsule wardrobe staple. It is tailored to fit and hugs the body from waist to the hem, in varying levels of tightness.

There are innumerable ways to wear a pencil skirt. It is like the little black dress. Pair it with different tops and Accessorize it in various styles and you get a new outfit every time

Tips for wearing a pencil skirt in professional setting

Wear the waistband of the skirt on level with the belly button or upper.

To create a long line, wear top and pencil skirt of the same color family – a monochromatic look.

Tucked or Untucked?

The top hem tucked inside the waistband of your pencil skirt is a very formal look. A top that is untucked can elongate the torso- a look to try out if you are on the short side. But when wearing an untucked blouse with pencil skirt, choose one that is not too long or too loose. You have to ensure that it will drape nicely over the pencil skirt without adding bulk and that it will end around your hip area. A slightly looser top with a very fitted skirt is also a nice look.

How to hide a belly with a pencil skirt?

If you have a small paunch and you want to camouflage it, you can wear the skirt with a peplum top. The frill of the peplum hides the small belly without it being obvoius. If you want to tuck your top wear one with a thicker wider waistband. Abstain from wearing too tight pencil skirts.
