Trims are what makes sewing fun. Buy them in your favouorite colors or the bling-est one and you can change the look of any clothing. In this tutorial, I’ll show you two easy ways to stitch trims onto tunic top necklines – not exactly on the neckline, but surely in a way to make the neckline pretty.
So what do you want for this neckline
The bodice of the Tunic with the neckline cut out
Ornate trim (I am using a 1 inch trim in the shiniest of gold color, I love it)
Thread matching the trim. (as you will be sewing over the trim)
Bobbin thread matching the tunic fabric
Sewing machine, ofcourse
Cut the Neckline
Cut a simple round shape on the tunic bodice fabric. This neckline design suits a round neckline.
You will be finishing the the neckline edges after the trim is sewn.

Position the Trim
Pin the trim in place so it stays aligned as you sew.
Pinch the trim, where you want to shape the trim. Sew the trim around with the piched fold in place.
This is how the trim looks now. .
Sew in place.
Fold the trim to the middle of the bodice. Pinch and fold the trim so that a neat corner is made.
Continue sewing to the other side of the bodice. Pinching and folding again the same way as I did the first time.
Once the trim is attached, press the neckline to smooth any creases. Check the inside of the neckline for loose threads and trim any excess.
Finish the neckline with a facing or by folding and stitching a narrow hem, to enclose the raw edges.
Keep the trim on the center line of the body, where you want the trim to end.
Stitch it there in place. This is stay stitching basically, so that you can fold the trim easily.
Fold up the trim.
Fold up the other side trim too.
Stitch everything in place. Edge stitch – ie stitch very close to the edge.
